On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Faculty of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an online workshop via Google Meet titled “Protecting Water Resources as a Sustainable Development Goal,” presented by Dr. Abdulrahman Abbas Adain. The workshop addressed the most prominent challenges facing water resources in the modern era, foremost among them the increasing depletion of water, pollution, and climate change, as well as regional pressures on water sources, emphasizing that protecting water resources is no longer an option but a necessity to ensure their sustainability and safeguard water security for future generations. He also emphasized the importance of adopting responsible behaviors, such as rationalizing water consumption, improving water management, and reducing waste, given their active role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The workshop further highlighted the role of educational and legislative institutions in promoting water awareness by incorporating water conservation concepts into school curricula and enacting laws that regulate water use and limit abuses. The lecturer also reviewed successful international models and experiences in water resource management and conservation techniques, as well as international initiatives aimed at achieving water security. The session witnessed significant engagement from the audience, with numerous contributions and questions that enriched the discussion. Participants emphasized the importance of continuing such scientific events to promote environmental and water culture and to enhance legal awareness related to the protection of natural resources. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the College of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University, aiming to support environmental and water awareness and encourage scientific research in the fields of law and sustainable development.
