Despite the significant benefits of the digital age, it has also introduced new psychological challenges that affect individuals of all ages. The Impact of Technology on Mental Health Excessive use of smart devices and social media platforms has led to noticeable changes in human behavior. Individuals now spend long hours in front of screens, which may result in social isolation and weakened real-life relationships. Major Psychological Disorders Associated with the Digital Age Digital Anxiety This results from the constant fear of missing information or not keeping up with events (FOMO), leading to persistent stress and tension. Depression Linked to excessive use of social media, especially due to constant comparison with others and feelings of self-dissatisfaction. Digital Addiction One of the most common issues, where individuals find it difficult to stay away from their phones or the internet for extended periods. Sleep Disorders Using devices before bedtime affects sleep quality due to blue light exposure and its impact on the melatonin hormone. Most Affected Groups Teenagers and young adults are the most vulnerable to these disorders because of their heavy reliance on technology in daily life. Prevention and Treatment Methods Regulating screen time and device usage. Engaging in physical and social activities. Avoiding phone use before sleep. Seeking psychological support when needed.
