Sponsored by the Dean of the College of Arts, Assistant Professor Dr. Maitham Abdul Khadr Jabbar, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, presented an educational workshop entitled "The Hindiya Barrage: Past and Present," with the attendance of a number of students interested in historical and engineering affairs, on the morning of Sunday, March 29, 2026. The workshop highlighted the historical importance of the Hindiya Barrage and its vital role in regulating water resources in Iraq, in addition to reviewing its development stages from its inception to the present time, while addressing the most prominent challenges it faces and ways to preserve it. During the workshop, the Assistant Dean emphasized the importance of linking the past and present in understanding strategic projects, pointing out the need to educate students about the importance of the water heritage and its role in supporting sustainable development.
