Under the generous patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, the activities of the Fifth Annual Al-Mustaqbal Book Fair were launched on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The event, held under the theme “Our Book, Our Future,” is considered one of the most prominent cultural events among Iraqi universities, attracting a wide academic and cultural audience, including faculty members, students, and intellectuals. The opening ceremony featured a speech delivered on behalf of the university presidency by Professor Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs. He emphasized that the exhibition represents a leading knowledge platform reflecting the university’s commitment to promoting culture, spreading scientific awareness, and strengthening students’ connection with books as a fundamental pillar in building societies. The fair hosts 25 publishing houses from various countries, offering a rich diversity of scientific and literary publications. It also features an integrated cultural program, including panel discussions, meetings with writers and intellectuals, as well as theatrical performances and art exhibitions. In addition, the event included the launch of an initiative to distribute free book purchase coupons, aiming to encourage students to read and enhance their culture of knowledge acquisition. The exhibition is expected to continue for a full week, providing visitors with the opportunity to explore the latest publications and participate in diverse cultural activities.
