On April 6, 2026, Assistant Lecturer Redha Abdul Abbas Hameed at the College of Agricultural Technologies, affiliated with Al-Mustaqbal University, organized an awareness activity entitled “Rabies and Its Danger to Society and Ways of Prevention,” as part of the scientific and educational activities aimed at enhancing health awareness among students and the community. The activity introduced rabies as a serious viral disease affecting the central nervous system and transmitted from animals to humans, mainly through bites or scratches, especially from dogs. It explained that rabies is considered one of the most dangerous viral diseases because of its extremely high fatality rate if early treatment is not received after infection. The activity also pointed out that the spread of stray animals and the lack of public health awareness among some members of society contribute to increasing the risk of rabies transmission. In addition, delays in visiting health centers after exposure to bites may lead to severe complications. During the activity, Assistant Lecturer Redha Abdul Abbas Hameed stressed the importance of following proper preventive measures, including immediately visiting health centers after exposure to bites or scratches, receiving the preventive vaccine, regularly vaccinating pets, and limiting the spread of stray animals. This activity reflects the College’s commitment to promoting health and preventive awareness and contributing to building a more informed society capable of confronting health risks. Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among private universities in Iraq.
