Students Mustafa Abdulrasool and Firas Kazim from the Department of Design, second stage, at the College of Fine Arts, Al-Mustaqbal University, achieved second place in the Architecture and Arts Hackathon, held as part of the Fourth International Sustainability Week 2026, with wide participation and distinguished student projects.
The achievement came after strong competition among participants, where the students presented an outstanding project titled “Mandela Monument,” which featured an innovative design vision reflecting a high ability to apply architectural concepts in producing a work that combines aesthetic and functional dimensions.
The project adopted a modern design approach that embodied the concept of a monument in a contemporary architectural style, expressing symbolism and strength in composition, giving it a distinct and recognizable identity.
The project was developed under the supervision of Engineer Roaa Ali Younis and programmer Sara Faiq Ali, who contributed to supporting the students and enhancing the professional quality of the outcomes.
The hackathon projects were evaluated by specialized academic committees using precise scientific criteria for selecting the winning works, adding an academic and competitive dimension that reflects the importance of the event.
This achievement highlights the excellence of Design Department students at Al-Mustaqbal University and reflects the supportive academic environment that fosters creativity and innovation in architecture and the arts.
