Al-Mustaqbal University Sustainability March: Active Participation by the College of Agricultural Technologies and its Students Towards a Sustainable Campus Environment

As part of its steadfast commitment to spreading a culture of sustainability and enhancing environmental awareness, Al-Mustaqbal University organized the "Sustainability March" on April 14, 2026. This event, held within the framework of the 4th International Sustainability Week, saw extensive participation from staff and students, in the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi. The event witnessed a distinguished turnout reflecting the level of environmental awareness and institutional belonging among students and staff. In his speech, the University President emphasized the importance of establishing sustainability concepts as a practical approach and daily behavior both on and off campus. He noted that these initiatives represent a fundamental step in preparing a conscious generation capable of leading the change toward a more balanced and sustainable future. Furthermore, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, explained that the "Sustainability March" is a practical translation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He highlighted that it continues the university's path since 2019 toward becoming a sustainable institution, emphasizing the pivotal role of students in spreading and transferring environmental culture to society. The College of Agricultural Technologies and its students participated actively in these festivities by presenting initiatives and applied projects that support environmental sustainability. These included modern agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and the use of sustainable agricultural techniques, reflecting the college's vital role in serving both the environment and the community. The march featured several awareness activities showcasing the university’s key achievements in sustainability, such as the expansion of green spaces, the adoption of clean energy, and the implementation of hydroponic and smart farming techniques. Additionally, it highlighted waste recycling and treatment programs, the use of modern irrigation systems, and the promotion of green transportation practices within the campus. This initiative is part of a series of specialized activities implemented by Al-Mustaqbal University, reaffirming its pioneering role in supporting sustainable development paths, strengthening community partnerships, and consolidating a conscious environmental culture that contributes to building a more sustainable future for future generations.
