Professor Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of AL-Mustaqbal University, met with Professor Arul Özvar, Turkish Minister of Higher Education and President of the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK), in Istanbul on the sidelines of the 11th Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2026).
During the meeting, opportunities for academic cooperation between Future University and prestigious Turkish universities were reviewed, with a focus on several key areas:
Digital transformation and artificial intelligence: Discussions centred on enhancing educational programmes in digital technologies, with Dr Özvar presenting Turkey’s advanced programmes in cybersecurity and innovative educational models supporting the digital health and agriculture sectors.
Green technology and sustainability: Dr Hassan Shaker Magdy expressed Future University’s keen interest in the fields of climate change, resource management, renewable energy and the green economy, emphasising that these disciplines are a priority in the university’s strategic plans.
Curriculum updates and the Bologna Process: The ongoing steps to develop the curriculum in line with the Bologna Process were reviewed, to ensure the quality of education and align its outcomes with international standards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of AL-Mustaqbal University presented Minister Özfar with a commemorative gift symbolising the depth of Babylonian civilisation (the Lion of Babylon), as an expression of appreciation for cultural and academic relations, and in recognition of the efforts of the Turkish Higher Education Council in promoting international cooperation.
