The First Al-Mustaqbal Forum for Fuel and Energy was held at Al-Mustaqbal University on Monday, April 13, 2026, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of the University, and with direct support from Assistant Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the Technical Engineering College, in a step that reflects the university’s commitment to promoting scientific research and keeping pace with developments in the fuel and energy sector.
The forum activities were launched at the Energy Research Center under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Abdul-Kadhim Fathi, Head of the Department of Fuel and Energy Engineering Technologies. The event began with the افتتاح of the participating companies’ exhibition, which included several key entities in the field, such as Afaq Al-Fadhaa Company, Khairat Al-Bahar Company, and the Petroleum Research and Development Center affiliated with the Ministry of Oil. This added an important practical and industrial dimension to the event.
This was followed by a panel discussion featuring specialized experts in oil, gas, and energy fields, including Dr. Ammar Ali Abd, Director of Scientific Affairs at Al-Qasim Al-Khadraa University; Dr. Reda Khudhair Al-Rubaie, representative of the Petroleum Research and Development Center; and Professor Dr. Alaa Dhari, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries at Al-Mustaqbal University. The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Kadhim Funtail Al-Sultani from the University of Babylon, where key challenges and future opportunities in the energy sector were discussed, with a focus on the transition toward sustainable energy.
The forum witnessed the attendance of prominent figures from the oil, gas, and energy sectors, including Mr. Ali Habib Zahwi, Technical Support Manager at DIA Company in the Middle East and North Africa; Dr. Anwar Qasim, Secretary of the Green and Digital Sector Council affiliated with UNESCO; and Dr. Muthanna Khalil Ibrahim, representative of Khairat Al-Bahar Company, in addition to representatives from the College of Engineering – Al-Musayyib, led by Dr. Ahmed Shaker Al-Yasiri and Dr. Ali Jaber.
This forum represents a distinguished scientific platform that brought together academics, experts, and university students to exchange knowledge and expertise, and to strengthen cooperation between academic institutions and industrial sectors, supporting the path of sustainable development in the field of energy.
