nder the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, the Women's Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the College of Law, organized a scientific workshop hosting a discussion seminar titled "Protection of Women in Times of Armed Conflict," delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Saad Obeid. This event was followed up by the head of the Women's Affairs Unit, Ms. Zainab Khaled, as part of the implementation of the institutional reform and participation pillar (paragraph 7). Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Sahira Qahtan, head of the unit, the seminar aimed to protect women from violence and violations such as enslavement and torture, which increase during wars, and to secure their basic needs such as food, water, healthcare, and shelter. It also aimed to provide psychological and social support to help them recover and reintegrate into society, as well as empower them in peacebuilding and reconstruction processes to enhance their role in building the future. All of this calls for preserving women's dignity, protecting them, and empowering them even in the most challenging circumstances. This aligns with the fifth goal (gender equality) of the Sustainable Development Goals.<br /><br />Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq.
