On Monday, March 17, 2025, the Sustainability Ambassadors team at the College of Law organized a training course titled "Enhancing Legal Knowledge in Sustainability." The course targeted a group of law students interested in the legal aspects of environmental protection and sustainable development.<br /><br />The course aimed to equip students with legal knowledge related to environmental laws and international legislation, raising their awareness of the role of law in balancing economic development with environmental protection. It also emphasized the importance of compliance with environmental laws and the role of individuals and companies in achieving legal sustainability.<br /><br />The course was conducted under the supervision of Sustainability Ambassadors at the college, including:<br /><br />Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Hamza Nimrud<br />Lecturer Ruaa Khalid<br />Programmer Yassin Abdulhussein<br />Programmer Ali Taher<br />The training covered several key topics, including:<br /><br />Local environmental laws and their role in achieving sustainability.<br />International environmental agreements and legislation, such as the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity.<br />The role of governments and international organizations in enacting and monitoring environmental laws.<br />The responsibility of individuals and companies in complying with environmental regulations and reducing pollution.<br />Challenges facing the implementation of environmental laws and possible solutions.<br />Encouraging students to spread awareness about environmental laws and participate in related initiatives.<br />Additionally, the course included a discussion about the Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Ambassadors Award, where students were introduced to the award’s requirements and evaluation criteria, encouraging them to develop innovative legal projects that contribute to environmental sustainability.<br /><br />At the conclusion of the course, the supervisors emphasized the importance of collaboration between various legal entities, governmental institutions, and private organizations to achieve sustainable development goals.
