nder the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, Dean of the College of Law, the College of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, held a panel discussion entitled “Sustainable Development Principles for the Protection of Women in Iraqi Labor Law.” The session was delivered by Dr. Ali Jasim Al-Saadi, with the presence of a distinguished group of faculty members and students.<br />The discussion highlighted the importance of empowering women in the workplace through the application of sustainable development principles. It clarified that the Iraqi Labor Law includes a number of provisions aimed at protecting the rights of working women; however, practical challenges remain, necessitating legislative development and the enhancement of social awareness.<br /><br />The panel also shed light on Goal 5 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. The speaker emphasized that empowering women in the labor market is one of the most significant indicators of progress toward this goal and reflects Iraq’s commitment to relevant international agreements and standards.<br />The discussion also explored the legal mechanisms that could support equal opportunities and ensure a safe and fair working environment for women, stressing the need to establish an enabling legislative environment that keeps pace with economic and social changes.<br /><br />The session witnessed active contributions from attendees, enriching the discussion with legal, social, and economic perspectives.
