Under the directives of Al-Mustaqbal University Presidency, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Fatima Abdul Rahim, the Department of Law organized an awareness lecture titled "The Danger of Tribal Rejection (Nehwa) on Women's Rights", delivered by Assistant Lecturer Fadel Ali Al-Sahlani, accompanied by three third-year students from the College.

The lecture was held in cooperation with the Women's Affairs Directorate and witnessed active participation from the Head of the Directorate, the Deputy Director, and the Head of the Women's Affairs Department, in addition to a number of local community women. The session began with welcoming the attendees and emphasizing the importance of cooperation between Al-Mustaqbal University and governmental and non-governmental institutions in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The lecture discussed the concept of nehwa (tribal prohibition of marriage), its causes, motives, types, and historical roots as a traditional custom passed down through generations. It also addressed the dangers it poses to women’s rights, as guaranteed by the message of Islam, the life of the Prophet and his household (peace be upon them), as well as international charters such as the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in addition to the Iraqi Constitution and laws that affirm women’s right to freedom and choice in marriage.

Furthermore, the lecture highlighted the psychological, physical, social, and health-related consequences that women face when subjected to such unjust practices. Several proposed solutions were presented, emphasizing the shared responsibility of society as a whole, and of women specifically as mothers and daughters.

The lecture witnessed notable interaction from the attendees and lasted for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. It included a dialogue session and a survey on the lecture's content. The participants unanimously agreed on the value of the information presented and expressed their appreciation for the distinct and engaging delivery style.

At the conclusion of the event, the Women's Affairs official extended her gratitude to the College of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University for its fruitful cooperation and praised the college's role in promoting community awareness.
