Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, the College of Law organized a panel discussion entitled: "Protecting the Environment from Desertification", on Tuesday, 20/10/2025, at the college hall – Humanities Building.
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Thamer Ramadan Ameen, a faculty member at the College of Law, who discussed the importance of addressing desertification and its direct impact on the sustainability of natural resources and quality of life. He also highlighted the role of national and international environmental legislation in limiting this phenomenon, as well as the necessity of promoting community awareness and supporting initiatives aimed at environmental protection and preserving vegetation cover.
He further emphasized that combating desertification represents an essential part of achieving sustainable development, particularly with regard to Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 15 (Life on Land), stressing that environmental protection is a shared responsibility that requires cooperation between individuals and institutions to ensure a healthy and safe environment for future generations.
The seminar was moderated by Dr. Abdulrahman Abbas Ad’aeen.
