Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, the College of Law organized a panel discussion entitled: "The Role of Women's Political Participation in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals", on Saturday, 11/10/2025, at the College Hall – Humanities Building.
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Asaad Ghali Hamza, a faculty member at the College of Law, who addressed the importance of enhancing women's participation in political life and their role in decision-making, which contributes to supporting sustainable development pathways. He explained that the political empowerment of women is a fundamental step toward achieving equality and social justice, and a key factor in ensuring that public policies are inclusive of all segments of society.
The lecturer also pointed out that women's participation in the political process is directly linked to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), emphasizing that involving women in leadership and decision-making positions is essential for building a balanced and sustainable developmental society.
