Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new scientific milestone by entering the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026 for the first time, after fulfilling all the requirements of this important international classification, which evaluates universities’ performance in environmental, social, and governance sustainability.
The university ranked first among private universities in Iraq and second nationally, following the University of Baghdad. Only nine Iraqi universities appeared in the ranking, including Al-Mustaqbal University, Al-Anbar University, Al-Mustansiriya University, the University of Babylon, the University of Mosul, and the University of Sulaimani.
Regionally and globally, the university ranked 524th in Asia out of 854 universities, and was placed within the 1401–1500 global category out of 2001 institutions included in the ranking.
Al-Mustaqbal University achieved advanced national standings across the three main pillars of the QS Sustainability Ranking:
1st in Iraq in Governance
1st in Iraq in Social Impact
3rd in Iraq in Environmental Impact
The university also secured 1st place in Iraq in Environmental Research, reflecting the strength of its research system and its commitment to environmental issues and sustainable development.
In a statement to the university’s media, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, congratulated all faculty members, staff, and students on this significant achievement, expressing appreciation for their sincere efforts and calling for continued work to achieve further progress in the university’s pioneering journey.
