Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University,
and the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, Dean of the College of Science,
the Department of Smart Medical Systems at the College of Science held a scientific seminar titled:
“The Role of Smart Medical Systems in Monitoring Addiction and Drug Abuse.”
The seminar was presented by Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Mani and Lecturer Dr. Maitham Nabil Miqdad, who discussed the growing impact of smart medical technologies in combating addiction—one of the most serious health and social challenges that undermines human well-being, impairs decision-making, and affects families and communities.
The speakers highlighted how rapid advancements in medical algorithms and data analysis systems have enabled precise tools for detecting vital indicators related to substance use, early identification of risky behaviors, and predictive models that support specialists in monitoring patients and reducing relapse risks. The seminar also explored the psychological, social, and environmental factors contributing to addiction, emphasizing that integrating artificial intelligence into preventive and therapeutic programs has become essential for enhancing healthcare efficiency and improving rehabilitation outcomes.
This seminar comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the College of Science and Al-Mustaqbal University to promote health awareness, spread a culture of drug prevention, and reinforce the role of medical technology in serving society in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly good health, quality education, and innovation in healthcare infrastructure.
