As part of the Global Drug Awareness Week, the College of Science at Al-Mustaqbal University actively participated in an educational workshop attended by Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, President of the University, and Haider Hassan Al-Saadi, Director of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs.
Representing the college, Asst. Lecturer Riam Thaer Ahmed, Rapporteur of the Forensic Evidence Department, highlighted the college’s pivotal role in promoting scientific and health awareness among students.
The workshop addressed several key topics, including the health, social, and psychological dangers of drug abuse, as well as modern scientific methods of detection and the role of academic institutions in preventing the spread of this phenomenon within the community.
The workshop further emphasized the alignment of awareness activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by strengthening preventive health education and reducing risky behaviors.
Goal 4: Quality Education, through providing students with knowledge and skills that support informed and responsible decision-making.
Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by supporting institutional efforts aimed at reducing drug-related crimes.
At the end of the workshop, participants stressed the importance of continuing the awareness initiatives spearheaded by the College of Science, recognizing its leading role in safeguarding students’ health and well-being.
