Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and as part of the College of Law’s activities on women’s rights, the College organized a panel discussion entitled: “Psychological Violence Against Women: Its Manifestations and Long-Term Effects,” on Wednesday, 26/11/2025, in the college hall – Humanities Building. The seminar was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Mohammed Kazem Al-Awadi, a faculty member at the College of Law, who addressed psychological violence against women as one of the most harmful forms of abuse affecting mental and social well-being. He explained its major forms and manifestations within both family and community environments. He also discussed the long-term effects of psychological violence on women, whether on family stability or on their active participation in society. The lecturer also reviewed the Iraqi legal framework related to protecting women from violence, in addition to awareness programs aimed at promoting respect for women and safeguarding their rights. The seminar examined the key legal and social challenges facing efforts to reduce this phenomenon, emphasizing the need to develop legislation that achieves justice and protects human dignity. At the conclusion of the seminar, the lecturer stressed the importance of promoting legal awareness among students and encouraging discourse that supports women’s rights, contributing to the enhancement of social justice and protecting society from the consequences of violence.
