Under the patronage of Al-Mustaqbal University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and as part of the College of Law’s activities on women’s rights, the College organized a panel discussion titled: “Women’s Rights in Situations of Conflict and Disasters: A Legal Reading of the Legislation”, on Sunday, 7/12/2025, at the college hall – Humanities Building. The lecture was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Waleed Khalid Al-Ghanami, who addressed the legal framework for protecting women’s rights during armed conflicts and disasters. He reviewed key national and international legislations concerned with safeguarding women’s dignity and ensuring their safety. The discussion also covered major challenges facing the implementation of these laws and the importance of enhancing legal awareness to ensure women receive necessary protection and support in such exceptional circumstances. At the conclusion of the session, the lecturer emphasized the need to develop awareness programs and legal initiatives that empower women and enhance their role in peacebuilding, contributing to community stability and reinforcing the principles of justice and equality.
