Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and as part of the College of Law’s activities in the field of Human Rights, the College organized a panel discussion titled: “Human Rights in the Holy Qur’an Compared to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” on Sunday, 7/12/2025, in the College Hall – Humanities Building.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ali Jasim Al-Saadi, who explored the Qur’anic foundations that establish human dignity and fundamental rights, and compared these principles with those articulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The lecturer also discussed key areas of similarity and difference between the Islamic legal perspective and international human rights standards, highlighting the importance of promoting awareness of these values to ensure the protection of rights and preservation of freedoms.
In conclusion, the lecturer emphasized the need to strengthen a culture of human rights within society and academic institutions, in a manner that fosters justice and equality and supports efforts toward building a community that upholds human dignity.
