Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and within the activities of Women’s Empowerment at the College of Law, the College organized a panel discussion entitled:
“Iraqi Women’s Rights: Between Reality and Aspiration.”
The panel was held on Wednesday, 17/12/2025, in the College of Law Hall – Humanities Building.
The panel was delivered by Dr. Abdulrahman Abbas Adain, who addressed the reality of Iraqi women’s rights under the prevailing legislation and the challenges facing the implementation of these rights in practice. He also highlighted future aspirations aimed at enhancing the status of women and ensuring their active participation in various fields.
The panel further reviewed the legal framework governing women’s rights in Iraqi legislation, clarifying the role of legal texts in providing legal and social protection for women, and emphasizing the importance of developing and activating these texts in line with international standards and the principles of justice and equality.
At the conclusion of the panel, the lecturer stressed the importance of raising students’ legal awareness regarding women’s rights, and the role of academic institutions in supporting women’s empowerment issues, in a manner that contributes to building a just and balanced society that respects the rights of all its members.
