In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding the rationalization of water consumption within the university campus, and as part of the activities of Al-Mustaqbal Water Conservation Week, launched by Al-Mustaqbal University under the slogan:
“A drop of water is life… Do not waste it, even if you are at a flowing river,”
the College of Law organized a presentation on:
“Water Rights in International Law.”
The presentation was delivered by Dr. Ali Hamza Nimroud, a lecturer at the College of Law, who addressed the importance of water rights under international law. He reviewed the legal principles governing the use of shared water resources between countries and emphasized the importance of protecting these resources to ensure sustainable development and environmental preservation.
The lecturer also reviewed international agreements and the global legal framework related to water rights, outlining proposed legal mechanisms to implement these rights at both local and international levels, and promoting a culture of responsibility and sustainability among students and staff, in line with national policies and the Sustainable Development Goals.
At the conclusion of the presentation, emphasis was placed on the importance of raising awareness of international water law, and on applying these principles in local and university policies to help protect water resources and ensure their sustainability for future generations.
