College of Science at Al-Mustaqbal University Organizes a Joint Chess Tournament Between the Departments of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Medical Systems

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University – the first-ranked private university in Iraq, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, the College of Science organized a distinguished sports activity represented by a joint chess tournament between the Department of Artificial Intelligence and the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems, aiming to strengthen academic cooperation and positive interaction among the college’s departments. The event was held under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Latif, with follow-up by the College Activities Coordinator, Dr. Alaa Hadi, and Assistant Lecturer Hadi Salah. The tournament took place in an outstanding academic and competitive atmosphere, with active participation from both faculty members and students. This activity comes as part of the College of Science’s ongoing efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, given the important role chess plays in enhancing mental health and developing concentration, logical thinking, and strategic analysis skills. The tournament was conducted using the Round Robin system, with a time control of 15 minutes plus 10 seconds per player, aiming to promote friendly competition and foster a culture of meaningful extracurricular and sports activities, in line with the vision of the College of Science and Al-Mustaqbal University to build an integrated and stimulating university environment.
