Under the slogan "Solutions for Water Conservation and Increased Production," Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific workshop on modern irrigation techniques.
Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the College of Engineering Technologies held a specialized scientific workshop titled "Managing Irrigation with Modern Technologies: Solutions for Water Conservation and Increased Production". This initiative comes within the university’s efforts to support sustainability, address climate challenges, and enhance the skills of students and engineering staff in utilizing modern technology.
The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, in the Student Activities Hall of the Engineering Building. The workshop focused on providing a technical roadmap for sustainable agriculture and covered the following main topics:
Smart Irrigation: Using sensors to monitor soil moisture and plant needs with high accuracy.
Advanced Irrigation Systems: Explaining drip irrigation and automated spraying mechanisms to reduce water wastage and improve efficiency.
Remote Automated Control: Employing technology to monitor and manage irrigation processes autonomously and intelligently.
Strategic Objectives of the Workshop:
Participants emphasized that the workshop aims to rationalize the use of agricultural water, preserve the national water resources, and enhance agricultural productivity through the latest global technologies. The workshop also highlights Al-Mustaqbal University’s role in leading the transformation toward a "Sustainable University" by providing scientific and practical solutions to water scarcity and developing students' and engineering staff’s skills in smart control systems.
This workshop reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, integrating scientific research with practical application to serve society and the environment, thereby strengthening its leading position among Iraqi and private universities.
