As part of the activities of Future Week for Water Conservation, the Head of the Department of Archaeology, Dr. Angham Salim Al-Dulaimi, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Water Culture in Iraqi Heritage” on December 13.
The seminar addressed the importance of water in ancient Iraqi civilizations and highlighted how water resources played a pivotal role in the development of agriculture and societies. It also discussed the customs and traditions related to water in Iraqi folk heritage.
In her speech, Dr. Al-Dulaimi emphasized the necessity of raising awareness about the importance of preserving water resources by drawing inspiration from Iraq’s authentic cultural heritage, considering that heritage carries educational and practical values that contribute to confronting the challenges of water scarcity in the modern era.
The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at enhancing cooperation between academic and community institutions to promote a culture of water conservation and sustainability.
