About
Department of Archeology at Al-Mustaqbal University was established during the Academic Year 2020-2021, according to the Ministerial order No. 6263, issued by the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research on 20th October 2020.
Department of Archeology: The department accepts graduates of preparatory studies for the branches (scientific, literary, biological, and applied), vocational preparatory, and the Shiite Endowment Office. The acceptance rate is 50%, the duration of study is four years, and the language of study is (Arabic).The graduate is then awarded a bachelor's degree in archaeology

Vision
The department is committed to strengthening its academic standards to become the foundation of a distinguished College of Archaeology that provides the local community with well-trained specialists in various archaeological sciences. This is achieved through activating the Excavation Committee, cultivating an aware generation that values the nation’s heritage, and cooperating with national and international organizations to establish an international museum, especially given the hundreds of archaeological sites within the Mesopotamian civilization.

The department aims to graduate students with solid archaeological knowledge and a strong sense of cultural identity, while supplying state institutions with qualified personnel. It also conducts archaeological research through field excavations and publishes their results to highlight Iraq’s heritage and its significant contributions to human civilization.
The duration of study in this program is four academic years.

Mission
In its Mission, the Department focuses on the enhancement of Archaeological Cultural Awareness, starting first with the Students, and then transferred to the whole Community, as it is the duty of everybody to protect their Cultural and Archaeological Heritage, taking into consideration that it is not just for the Nation, but for all humanity.
However, these issues have been included in the Department Curricula that have been developed in order to expand Students Awareness that there are lots of Signs and Evidence, which confirm the fact that their Country does include prominent stages of Human Civilization Development, and that many of Civilizational Achievements have started here before moving to other Regions of the Ancient World. Accordingly, the Department aspires to graduate Archaeological Excavators who shall be committed to discovering those Civilizational Achievements

Objective
The Department Objectives can be summarized as follows:
1. Provision of Archaeologists specialized in Ancient Iraqi Languages as well as Cuneiform Writing of Sumer & Akkad.
2. Introducing Ancient Civilizations and their Achievements in various Fields of Human Activity, including Sciences, Arts, and Literature.
3. Revealing tangible materials related to Ancient Civilizations, especially those of our Country, so as to draw an integrated image of the Civilizational Achievements Development.
4. Spread of awareness that focuses on the protection of Archaeological Collections, being indeed Human Cultural Heritage.
5. Introducing the most important centers of Ancient Civilizations in Iraq and Neighboring Countries, with the focus on their influence.
6. Emphasizing the most appropriate Methods of Excavation and adopting the latest for extracting Tangible Antiquities.
7. Developing the Academics Skills and experiences by involving them in Workshops, Conferences and Scientific Seminars at home and abroad.
8. Informing Students about the most important Archaeological Sites in Iraq and focusing on their vitality.
9. Directing Students to concentrate in their research on their Cultural and Archeological Heritage, being an essential step to preserve it from loss.
