Gene editing technologies are among the most significant recent advancements in medical science, allowing the modification or correction of the genetic code within the cells of living organisms. One of the most well-known techniques is CRISPR-Cas9, which enables scientists to target specific genes with high precision. These technologies contribute to the treatment of many genetic diseases, such as sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis, and can also be used to prevent certain diseases before they manifest. Moreover, they play a crucial role in personalized medicine, allowing treatments to be tailored to the genetic makeup of individual patients. Despite their enormous benefits, gene editing technologies also raise ethical and legal concerns, such as interventions in human genes that could affect future generations. Therefore, scientific institutions are working to establish strict guidelines to ensure the safe and responsible use of this technology.
