The environment is the comprehensive framework in which humans live, encompassing all living organisms as well as natural and non-natural factors that influence life and continuously interact with each other. The concept of the environment includes natural elements such as air, water, soil, and climate, in addition to living organisms and physical and chemical conditions, as well as human activities that have contributed to forming what is known as the built or civilized environment. Humans have a close relationship with the environment based on mutual influence, deriving essential life necessities such as food, water, and energy from it, while simultaneously being the most capable of altering it through scientific and technological advancements. The concept of the environment also encompasses ecosystems, which are integrated units where living organisms interact with non-living components, such as forests, rivers, and seas. Any disruption of this balance directly affects human life. With the expansion of human activities such as industrialization, unbalanced agriculture, deforestation, and excessive resource use, serious environmental problems have emerged, including air, water, and soil pollution, the deterioration of biodiversity, and disruption of food chains, making the environment often unsuitable for healthy living. Environmental challenges intensify with the growing population, increased consumption, and accumulation of waste, imposing a significant responsibility on humans to understand the environment correctly and protect it through sustainable resource management, pollution reduction, environmental awareness, and collaboration among scientists and decision-makers. Ultimately, human survival and quality of life are directly linked to environmental safety, and maintaining ecological balance is essential for ensuring human continuity and a secure future for coming generations.
