Prepared by Dr. Noor Abdul Kareem Department of Communication Technologies .Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping telecom networks by enabling intelligent traffic management, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and automated security operations. AI-driven systems enhance network efficiency, reduce downtime, and support the growing complexity of 5G and future 6G infrastructures, where massive connectivity and low latency are critical. However, as AI becomes deeply embedded in telecom systems, cybersecurity challenges also evolve. Intelligent networks must be designed with secure authentication, privacy-preserving data handling, and robust monitoring mechanisms. While AI can detect threats faster than traditional tools, it can also be misused for advanced attacks such as AI-generated phishing, deepfake voice fraud, and manipulation of communication signals. Beyond technology, ethics and human awareness remain essential. Telecom engineers and decision-makers must ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in AI-driven systems, particularly when handling sensitive user data and automated decision-making. The future of telecom with AI will not be defined solely by smarter algorithms, but by how responsibly and securely these intelligent networks are designed, deployed, and governed.
