Within the framework of promoting environmental awareness and social responsibility, Lecturer Assistant (M.M.) Haider Mutlak Mousa from the Department of Biochemistry – College of Science organized an awareness campaign entitled “Together to Protect Our Water.” The campaign aimed to highlight the importance of water resources and the necessity of protecting them from pollution and depletion. The campaign addressed the environmental and health risks resulting from water pollution, particularly its direct impact on human health and ecosystems. It also highlighted the role of unregulated human activities in increasing pollution levels. In addition, the campaign focused on guiding students toward proper practices in dealing with water resources, such as rationalizing water consumption, avoiding the disposal of waste into water sources, and encouraging behaviors that contribute to protecting the aquatic environment. The campaign organizer emphasized that protecting water resources is a shared responsibility that requires the combined efforts of educational institutions and society. He also pointed out the important role universities play in spreading environmental culture and raising awareness among students, contributing to the development of a conscious generation capable of protecting natural resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations. This campaign comes as part of a series of awareness activities organized by the Department of Biochemistry at the College of Science, in support of the Sustainable Development Goals and in reinforcement of the university’s role in serving the community.
