In pursuit of the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education), the Department of Optometry at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a scientific visit to Amir Al-Mu'minin Hospital in Najaf on February 11, 2026, under the supervision of Lecturer Hassan Abdul-Hadi Al-Jabri.
The visit included a tour of the hospital's departments, where students met with medical staff and optometrists. A detailed explanation was provided about the latest equipment and technologies used in diagnosing and treating eye diseases, in addition to highlighting the vital role of optometrists in supporting eye healthcare.
Lecturer Hassan Abdul-Hadi Al-Jabri also... Hassan Abdulhadi Al-Jabri delivered a scientific lecture to students on the latest techniques for examining and diagnosing keratoconus. The lecture addressed the importance of early diagnosis using advanced techniques such as corneal topography, anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT), and keratometry. It also reviewed the latest available treatments, including corneal cross-linking and scleral lenses.
Furthermore, the students were introduced to the procedures for examining and diagnosing common conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy, which enhanced their understanding of the importance of eye examinations in determining appropriate treatment options.
The medical staff and opticians at the hospital welcomed the visit and wished the students success in becoming valuable contributors to the field of optics and providing advanced healthcare services in the future.
