Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Arts and Humanities, organized a seminar entitled:
“Combating Violence Against Women: Social and Legal Dimensions and Protection Mechanisms”
Presented by Assistant Lecturer Ria Naseef Jassim, on Tuesday, February 15, 2026.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the phenomenon of violence against women from both social and legal perspectives by discussing its causes and impacts on individuals, families, and society. It also highlighted relevant legislative frameworks and available protection mechanisms. The seminar sought to promote a culture of rejecting violence and to reinforce the principles of justice and equality, contributing to building a safe environment that respects women’s dignity and rights.
This event comes in line with the implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security, particularly within the pillars of prevention and protection, as well as in support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal Five on gender equality.
