In fulfillment of the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education). The Women's Affairs Committee organized The Department of Optical Technologies organized an awareness activity in the form of a workshop entitled “The Roots of Extremism and Prevention Mechanisms”, presented by the lecturers Naba Yaseen, Huraa Sadiq, and Zainab Ahmed, as part of efforts to promote intellectual awareness and reinforce a culture of moderation and tolerance within the academic community. The workshop aimed to shed light on the intellectual, social, and psychological factors that contribute to the emergence of extremism, highlighting its negative impacts on individuals and society. It also addressed key preventive mechanisms that can help limit this phenomenon, such as promoting constructive dialogue, fostering a culture of acceptance of others, and developing critical thinking skills among youth. The activity included an interactive presentation, followed by an open discussion session that allowed students to share their perspectives and questions, contributing to the creation of a conscious and safe university environment based on mutual respect and responsible national belonging. This workshop is part of a series of awareness initiatives implemented by the department to support humanitarian values and strengthen the role of educational institutions in preventing extremist ideology and promoting social peace.
