As part of its scientific activities aimed at enhancing students’ academic level and developing their practical skills, Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Hazem Hamed from the Department of Biochemistry at Al-Mustaqbal University delivered a scientific workshop entitled “Modern Analytical Chemistry.” The workshop highlighted the latest methods and techniques used in analytical chemistry and their role in supporting scientific research and laboratory applications. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the importance of modern analytical chemistry in identifying chemical compounds and accurately determining their concentrations, as well as its vital role in medical, environmental, industrial, and pharmaceutical fields. It also included an explanation of the most important modern analytical instruments and techniques, and how they are used in educational and research laboratories, with emphasis on accuracy and reliability of results. Several key topics were discussed, including spectroscopic and chromatographic analysis methods, the importance of quality control in laboratory work, and the practical applications of analytical chemistry in detecting pollutants and analyzing drugs and biological samples. The workshop witnessed positive interaction from students through questions and scientific discussions, which helped strengthen understanding and reinforce fundamental concepts, supporting the practical aspect of their academic journey. This workshop comes as part of a series of scientific activities through which the Department of Biochemistry seeks to develop students’ scientific and research abilities and prepare them according to solid academic foundations that keep pace with modern developments in chemical sciences.
