As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance practical scientific knowledge and research skills among students, the Biochemistry Department organized a specialized workshop entitled “Applied Biochemistry,” delivered by Dr. Karar Majid Ubaid. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential practical skills in biochemistry and to bridge theoretical knowledge with hands-on laboratory experience. The workshop provided a comprehensive explanation of modern laboratory techniques used to study biological reactions and analyze biological samples. It also highlighted advanced methods for assessing enzymatic activity and understanding the vital processes occurring within the human body and other living organisms. Practical applications in medical, pharmaceutical, and research fields were emphasized, including the study of disease mechanisms and the development of modern treatment approaches. The workshop witnessed active participation from attending students, who engaged in rich scientific discussions and posed numerous questions that enhanced the educational value of the session. Live laboratory demonstrations were presented to help students connect theory with practice, increasing their understanding of the role of biochemistry in advancing medical and health sciences. At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Karar Majid Ubaid stressed the importance of continuing such scientific events due to their vital role in developing students’ research skills, critical thinking, and analytical abilities, as well as raising the overall academic standards of the department and university. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the Biochemistry Department to support the educational process and strengthen students’ practical competencies, keeping pace with the latest scientific and professional standards in the field of biochemistry.
