Traffic Accidents (Prof. Dr. Saad Abdul Rahim Hussein) Traffic accidents are among the most serious problems facing societies in the modern era due to the significant human and material losses they cause. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives or suffer severe injuries as a result of speeding, failure to comply with traffic laws, or using mobile phones while driving. Reports by the World Health Organization indicate that road traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of death worldwide, especially among young people. The causes of traffic accidents are varied. Some are related to the driver, such as reckless behavior or driving under the influence of fatigue or drugs. Others are linked to road conditions, such as poor lighting or inadequate maintenance, in addition to weather factors like fog and rain. Neglecting vehicle maintenance may also lead to sudden mechanical failures that result in accidents. To reduce this phenomenon, it is essential to spread traffic awareness, strictly enforce laws, and improve road infrastructure. Every driver must act responsibly and remain committed to safety rules to protect their own life and the lives of others. Road safety is a shared responsibility, and adherence to regulations is the path toward a safer society. Al-Mustaqbal University The first university in Iraq.
