(Prepared by:( Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan: Early childhood is a vital stage in shaping an individual's personality and determining their life path. It is during this time that the foundations of a sound personality are laid. All the traits, habits, and social attitudes formed during this stage are difficult to change later on, as children learn values, morals, and social skills that influence their future behavior. But what happens when this stage is challenged? And how can this lead to personality deviation? Clinical and analytical research together shows us that homes characterized by understanding and affection, based on respect, trust, love, and appreciation, are the ones that produce well-adjusted adults. Conversely, homes that instill anger, fear, and resentment in children are the ones that produce deviants, delinquents, and neurotics. Those raised in hostile environments do not feel friendly wherever they go. Those deprived of security, stability, and affection in childhood refuse to accept love from those who wish to give it to them, and find it difficult to provide their own children with security and love, or they may try to steal it at any cost and by any means. Those deprived of freedom and pleasure in childhood resort to trickery to obtain it and seize it in their youth. Those raised to run from difficulties and obstacles become submissive and fearful in adulthood. Those who were spoiled by their parents in childhood expect to be spoiled by their peers and superiors. Therefore, we find that the family environment plays a significant role in shaping children's behavior. Those who live in loving and warm environments tend to develop positive personalities, as they learn through Children observe and imitate the behaviors around them. Therefore, exposure to positive behaviors enhances their healthy psychological and social development. Meeting basic psychological needs such as love, security, and respect contributes to building a well-adjusted personality. However, exposure to violence can lead to psychological and behavioral disorders such as aggression and depression. Furthermore, neglect and lack of attention and care can lead to problems with self-esteem. Studies have shown that social relationships exposed to negative influences, such as inappropriate media or bad friends, can contribute to deviant behavior. How can we protect our children? 1. Effective Communication: Building a strong relationship with children based on open communication and mutual respect. 2. Guidance and Counseling: Guiding children towards positive behaviors and providing them with good role models. 3. Psychological Support: Providing psychological support and emotional support helps children face challenges. Early childhood is the foundation for personality development, and through proper attention and guidance, we can help our children grow up healthy and positively.
