As part of the graduation project discussions in the Department of Computer Engineering Technologies – College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University, fourth-year students presented their graduation project entitled: “Reduce Food Wasting Based on AI Techniques and Demand Forecasting.” The project aims to reduce food waste by employing artificial intelligence techniques and data analysis to accurately forecast future demand. The students relied on machine learning algorithms to analyze historical sales data, consumption patterns, and seasonal factors in order to build a predictive model that assists food institutions and retail stores in improving inventory management and reducing surplus and waste. The research provided a detailed explanation of the project stages, starting from data collection and preprocessing, followed by the implementation of forecasting models using specialized programming tools and languages, and concluding with evaluating the model’s performance and comparing its results with traditional demand management methods. The students also presented the development of a smart system capable of delivering real-time recommendations to support decision-making within supply chains, thereby lowering costs and enhancing environmental sustainability.
