The duality of the self and the other is considered one of the important intellectual foundations in the texts of the playwright Bayat Al‑Marai. It appears through a dramatic conflict that reflects the relationship of the human being with oneself and with the surrounding society. In his texts, the self represents the individual consciousness searching for identity and meaning, while the other emerges as an active force that reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the character. This creates both an internal and external dialogue at the same time. Al-Marai relies on this interaction to address human and social issues such as belonging, difference, and the search for balance between the self and the social environment. The relationship between the self and the other is also embodied through dramatic situations based sometimes on confrontation and at other times on understanding. The other is not always portrayed as an enemy but rather as a partner in shaping awareness. In Al-Marai’s works, characters develop intellectually through their interaction with the other, which gives the text an educational and philosophical dimension that enhances critical thinking for the audience. Through this approach, theatre becomes a space for cultural dialogue and for expressing contemporary issues experienced by individuals within society. Reading the texts of Bayat Al-Marai in an academic context helps students understand human diversity and accept differences. It encourages them to analyze situations with deeper awareness based on dialogue and critical thinking rather than preconceived judgments. In this way, the goal of quality education at the University of the Future is achieved by developing students’ personalities capable of critical thinking and by promoting the values of understanding, cooperation, and respect for others, thus contributing to preparing graduates who possess intellectual and human awareness that meets the demands of contemporary society....Almustaqbal University, The First University in Iraq
