Global warming is considered one of the most significant environmental problems facing the world today. It refers to the gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's surface as a result of the rising concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This increase has led to noticeable changes in climate patterns and ecosystems, posing a serious threat to the planet and living organisms. Concept of Global Warming Global warming is a natural phenomenon that occurs when certain gases in the atmosphere—such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), and nitrous oxide (N₂O)—trap part of the sun’s heat within the Earth’s atmosphere instead of allowing it to escape into space. This process is essential for maintaining the Earth’s temperature at levels suitable for life. However, the excessive increase in these gases due to human activities has led to an abnormal rise in global temperatures. Causes of Global Warming The main causes of global warming are largely related to human activities, including: Burning fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas to produce energy.
