The Department of Biochemistry at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a specialized workshop titled “Industrial Pollutants: Their Impact on Environment and Health and Methods of Treatment”, conducted by Lecturer Dr. Karar Majid Ubaid. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among students and the academic community about the importance of reducing industrial pollution and protecting both the environment and public health. The workshop covered types of industrial pollutants and their effects on air, water, and soil, as well as the potential health risks associated with exposure, including respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological disorders. It also presented modern treatment methods, such as wastewater treatment, air filtration, chemical neutralization, recycling, and adopting clean production techniques. Dr. Karar Majid Ubaid emphasized the importance of sustainable industrial practices and adherence to environmental regulations to preserve human health and maintain ecological balance, highlighting the critical role of universities in promoting environmental awareness and educating students and the community about environmental protection. This workshop is part of a series of scientific and awareness activities organized by the Department of Biochemistry to support environmental values and enhance public health and community awareness.
