Al-Mustaqbal University Seventh Council Session: Practical Steps Toward Digital Transformation and Enhancing Education Quality

Al-Mustaqbal University held its seventh council session on Sunday, March 15, 2026, on campus, under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, with the participation of council members, including assistants and college deans, to discuss a range of academic and administrative matters aimed at enhancing institutional performance. The session was convened in response to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and aimed at accelerating digital transformation and improving the quality of education. Discussions focused on practical mechanisms for implementing these initiatives within the university. In this context, the University President emphasized the importance of completing registration requirements on digital learning platforms such as IQ Learning and SIS, noting that this represents a fundamental step in developing the educational environment. He also stressed the need to intensify efforts to ensure that all students can fully and effectively benefit from the available digital resources. The Council also discussed the implementation of program accreditation across all departments and colleges in accordance with the quality and alignment standards approved by the Ministry. Emphasis was placed on the integration of efforts among colleges to ensure robust educational outcomes aligned with modern academic standards. Regarding the support of academic excellence, the session included the recognition of Professor Dr. Alaa Dhari on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Professor, reflecting the university’s appreciation for its academic staff achievements and their role in advancing academic standards. With respect to student activities, the Council reviewed participation levels in scientific events. The University President highlighted the prominent role of students in supporting and enhancing these events and commended the efforts of the academic supervisor and the Diwan Affairs Department in organizing the National Afforestation Campaign, which saw broad participation from various colleges. In the field of research development, the Council approved the establishment of a number of academic journals and the organization of scientific conferences, contributing to the enhancement of research output and improving the university’s academic ranking. The Council also approved the organization of the Fourth Sustainability Week and the University’s anniversary celebrations from March 11 to 16, 2026, aiming to showcase the university’s achievements and outline its future plans. At the level of skills development, summer training programs for students and faculty members were approved in three countries: England, Egypt, and Turkey, aiming to enhance practical experience and expand opportunities for international academic collaboration. This session, in terms of both content and the number of issues addressed, reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to implementing digital transformation plans and improving education quality through practical measures and institutional integration, thereby reinforcing its position among leading universities in Iraq.
