In pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education), the Department of Optometry organized a field trip for fourth-year students to Imam al-Sadiq Hospital (peace be upon him). The visit included a specialized eye screening campaign for outpatients and inpatients, as well as a firsthand look at the workflow within the wards and specialized departments, under the supervision of faculty members Dr. Ghaith Ali Mahmoud and Ms. Zainab Ahmed Abbas. The activity included conducting comprehensive eye examinations, identifying refractive errors, and observing the procedures for handling medical cases and using modern equipment, with the aim of enhancing students’ clinical and professional skills and linking academic curricula to practical realities in healthcare institutions, as well as providing a humanitarian and community service that contributes to raising awareness of eye health and understanding the nature of the duties of optometrists within government hospitals.
