Al-Mustaqbal University organized an online workshop entitled “From Awareness to Empowerment: The Role of Women in Achieving Sustainable Water Resource Management” on March 22, 2026, via the university’s digital platforms. The workshop was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of the University, with the participation of a number of academics and experts. This workshop was conducted as part of the University’s celebrations of World Water Day 2026, aiming to enhance community awareness of the importance of preserving water resources and to highlight the role of women in their management, in alignment with global efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6. The workshop commenced with an opening address by the University President, who emphasized the importance of leveraging international occasions to promote sound environmental practices. He also highlighted the role of scientific research and awareness activities in supporting the sustainable management of water resources. The workshop featured several scientific presentations addressing multiple themes, including raising community awareness about the importance of water and methods of conservation, the role of women in promoting sustainable water resource management, and the presentation of successful initiatives and experiences at both local and international levels. The sessions were delivered by Professor Dr. Tariq Jawad, Dr. Mahdi Shanshal, Professor Dr. Iman Abdul Aziz, and Engineer Khalid Kadhim Al-Salihi, who provided scientific and practical insights that contribute to strengthening environmental sustainability concepts. This event reflects the ongoing efforts of Al-Mustaqbal University to support environmental and sustainability issues and to reinforce its role in building an academically aware community concerned with natural resource management, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable development.
