ALMustaqbal University, under the supervision of Lecturer Dr. Sajjad Alwan, organized an extensive scientific event addressing one of the most prominent contemporary global issues: the repercussions of climate change and water crises, and their direct impact on sustainable health security. The event was attended by a distinguished group of academics, researchers, and university students. This event comes amid the growing environmental challenges facing the world, where participants discussed the accelerating effects of rising temperatures and increasing drought waves on water resources, along with the resulting decline in the quality of potable water. This situation poses a serious threat to public health and increases the likelihood of the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid. The event supervisor, Assistant Lecturer Dr. Sajjad Alwan, emphasized that climate change is no longer merely an environmental issue but has become a multidimensional crisis that directly affects both health and food security. He pointed out that water scarcity and pollution contribute to worsening health problems, particularly in communities suffering from weak healthcare infrastructure. Attendees also addressed the close relationship between water scarcity and declining agricultural production, which leads to increased rates of malnutrition and negatively impacts individuals’ health, especially among children and the elderly. Furthermore, the growing pressure on healthcare systems due to the rising number of environment-related diseases was highlighted. On the solutions side, participants stressed the importance of adopting integrated strategies for water resource management, strengthening early warning systems for environmental crises, and investing in the development of healthcare infrastructure, in addition to raising public awareness about water conservation and environmental protection. The recommendations also called for enhancing cooperation among academic institutions, government bodies, and international organizations, and for adopting sustainable environmental policies that help mitigate the effects of climate change, ensuring health security for current and future generations. This event is part of Future University’s ongoing efforts to support scientific research, keep pace with global issues, and reinforce the role of academic institutions in providing practical and scientific solutions to contemporary environmental and health challenges.
