Al-Mustaqbal University Organizes a Scientific Workshop on “Bahr Al-Najaf” and Its Historical Significance

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Department of Archaeology organized a specialized scientific workshop titled “Bahr Al-Najaf: A Study of Its Historical and Environmental Dimensions.” The workshop was held in the Activities Hall on March 29, 2026, and was presented by Dr. Ali Farhan Zuwair. The workshop addressed the importance of Bahr Al-Najaf from several perspectives. It reviewed its geological formation and the changes it has undergone over time, in addition to its archaeological significance, as it includes sites indicating ancient human settlement, as well as its role in historical trade routes. The workshop also discussed the current environmental challenges facing the area and presented scientific visions for investing in it as a natural reserve and a cultural and tourism destination. The lecturer emphasized that Bahr Al-Najaf represents an important cultural and environmental value, highlighting the need to integrate archaeological studies with other sciences to better understand the region’s history and preserve its heritage identity. #Al-Mustaqbal University Ranked First Among Private Universities in Iraq
