<br />Note: The term "al‑Hiyāṭilah" is transliterated as such because it does not have a widely recognized English equivalent.<br /><br />Al‑Mustaqbal University Organizes a Scientific Seminar on the Hiyāṭilah and Their Role in History<br /><br />The Department of Archaeology in the College of Arts and Humanities at Al‑Mustaqbal University organized a scientific seminar on February 8, 2025.<br /><br />The seminar, titled “Hiyāṭilah: Peoples Who Ruled and Then Vanished,” was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Farhan Zuwair, with the participation of several students interested in history and archaeology.<br /><br />The seminar discussed the history of the Hiyāṭilah, one of the groups that emerged in Central Asia, their influence on neighboring civilizations, and the reasons for their decline. Dr. Zuwair also highlighted the importance of studying ancient civilizations to understand the cultural and historical transformations the region has undergone.<br /><br />This seminar is part of the efforts to promote Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by disseminating historical knowledge and documenting human heritage, as well as contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage and its role in building communities that are more aware of their history.<br /><br />Al‑Mustaqbal University – the premier university in Iraq.
