Today, the mobile phone has become an essential part of our lives. It follows us everywhere, connecting us to a world of information and entertainment. But has it transformed from a tool for enhancing thought into a means of destroying it?
Digital addiction and loss of deep thinking:
One of the most dangerous effects of mobile phones is constant distraction. Applications designed to capture our attention weaken our ability to focus and reflect, reducing critical and creative thinking.
Dependence on ready-made information and quick answers from search engines:
The human mind is becoming lazy in analysis and reasoning. We no longer need deep thinking or direct interaction with books and original sources; instead, we consume knowledge in a superficial way.
Distorting reality and spreading misinformation:
With social media, the mobile phone has become a powerful tool for spreading fake news, shaping false awareness, and making people vulnerable to intellectual and informational manipulation.
Killing creativity and intellectual independence:
Over-reliance on ready-made digital content has led to a decline in creative abilities. People now consume content instead of producing it. Even personal decisions are influenced by others' opinions and trending content on the internet.
How can we face this phenomenon?
Organizing mobile phone usage: Setting specific times for usage and not allowing the phone to control our daily lives, creating pauses and control points.
Returning to paper reading: Enhancing critical thinking skills through reading books and independent analysis.
Using mobile phones wisely: Choosing useful content and engaging with applications that encourage thinking and creativity.
The mobile phone is not purely evil, but it can become a tool for destroying thought and social relationships if we do not use it wisely. Balancing the benefits of technology while maintaining intellectual abilities is the real challenge in the era of fast information.

Almustaqbal University, the number one university in Iraq
