With the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) in work environments, an important question arises regarding the possibility of replacing managers with these smart systems. There is no doubt that AI possesses advanced capabilities in data analysis, making decisions based on accurate information, and providing effective recommendations, making it a powerful support tool in operational management.

In many sectors, smart systems are already being used for tasks such as performance evaluation, schedule organization, and logistical planning, which helps ease routine burdens on managers and speeds up decision-making processes.

Despite these capabilities, leadership roles still require human skills that are difficult to replicate, such as emotional intelligence, team motivation, conflict resolution, and building a healthy and positive work environment. A successful manager’s role goes beyond task execution — it requires creativity, ethical decision-making, and a deep understanding of team social dynamics — areas where AI is still far from achieving mastery.

Therefore, it is unlikely that AI will fully replace managers; rather, it will remain a supportive tool that enhances their efficiency and allows them to focus on strategic and human-centered aspects that require direct human interaction.
Al-Mustaqbal University The first University in Iraq.
